Fearless Foursomes for March Madness
IT’S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN. At last we have the final four teams of March Madness, the last stretch of the tournament before the NCAA championship game that will define who is the best college basketball team in the nation. Virginia is up against Auburn, while Texas Tech plays Michigan State - all going down this Saturday. So text your squad and get everyone together for an intense day of basketball!
Mighty foursomes aren’t only for March Madness, Hollywood is quite fond of powerful groups of four. From superheroes to vivacious friend groups, they allow for diverse talents and personalities to be represented on the screen. Proving that many good things come packaged in fours, here are a few films featuring iconic foursomes:
The A-Team
Wrongfully imprisoned for a crime they didn’t commit, four ex-special forces soldiers band together to clear their name and give hell to whoever set them up. The A-team is comprised of B.A., Face, Murdock, and their team lead Hannibal, who is played by Liam Neeson. These guys aren’t afraid to make a scene as they steal planes and set off loads of bombs, giving this film the right amount of excitement, adventure, and comedy.
Ghostbusters
Who you gonna call? In this modern reboot of Ghostbusters, the ladies are doing the busting! Kristin Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon star as New York’s defense crew against the pesky spirits that are terrorizing the city. Many were skeptical about this rendition of the 1984 Ghostbusters, but this is a great film for the whole family to watch, especially to see ladies from various backgrounds team up to fight otherworldly beings.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World
In this comic series turned movie, the Sex Bob-omb!’s are an awkward but oddly good band of four battling against other musicians to help the lead singer, played by Michael Cera, win the heart of his eccentric crush. Cera must defeat all of his crush’s ex-lovers and face his bitter past if he hopes to become her boyfriend. If you love romantic comedies that have more battle scenes than romance, you’ll definitely want to give Scott Pilgrim a chance!
Anchorman
Will Ferrell fans probably already know about this ridiculously goofy movie, but it’s sure to make you laugh no matter how many times you’ve seen it! Following a 70’s news station anchorman, Ron Burgundy, who at the height of his career and life, soon finds his castle crumbling when the news station decides to bring on a female co-anchor. His fellow newscasters, three other harebrained men, are also confused by this push for gender equality in all levels of the workplace and hilarity ensues.
Lord of the Rings
You would never think the dear hobbits of the shire, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin, would be the perfect foursome to rally up the magical forces of light to defeat evil. But these mischievous, courageous, child-like creatures were the only team capable of getting the job done! Without Sam and the twins by his side to provide, yes, comedic relief, and true emotional support, Frodo would have never completed his mission and cast the ring into Mordor.
But unlike movies and basketball tournaments, our Control Center doesn’t need three other accessories to complete the team, just the universal remote will do. Watch any of our movie suggestions with a simple voice command.
