Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Holy Grail device? My household has struggled since the beginning of time with the remote juggling...5, 6. 7 remotes laying around. And to try to explain to my oh so patient non-techy wife how to navigate it all? Yikes. Along comes Caavo. Three main things that it is solving...1 - never having to adjust the TV input. Step one to simplicity. 2- One remote that works with all devices. Getting hotter... and 3 - one interface on the screen to help you navigate. Boom - you got it all together. Main test - Can my wife use it. Bingo...she figured it out and was so happy in no time. We love this system - immediately got online to order a second device for our other house.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Theoretically Wonderful - Actually Needs Work Set-up wasn't difficult, but maneuvering through the menu is made harder with a remote that has no lights. I have to turn the remote sideways to get some reflective light from the TV, or turn on a light, which would ruin the atmosphere. I would also like to customize the names of the components, because I don't normally use a voice command of "play Sony UBP-X800 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player". And since I have two DVD players (one PAL) the other is "Philips DVP2800 Region Free DVD player."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome remote! At first I was skeptical of the few buttons the remote had, but after months with my Caavo I'm extremely pleased. The voice search is very accurate and the interface is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Caavo is the Best Remote Today!!! Having utilized so many so-called “Universal” remotes, countless batteries, only to keep trying for perfection, venturing in purchasing the pricey Caavo remote, sparked a new hope for success. I must admit it took nearly 2 months to finally find a discount on the device. Costing a whopping $399, I settled on approximately $239 when purchased. Let’s get down to specifics. During the purchasing process, there were 3 versions all sleek, beautiful, and compact. I optioned for the Barwood version. It came with its own remote, HDMI cables, extenders, and an IR Controller. Set-up was easy, direct, and quite fun. These are positives of being a technology geek. I recently bought the Amazon Fire Cube Box, already had a Roku device, INVIDIA Shield, Channel Master Stream+, an XBOX-One, my Samsung Surveillance Camera system, and a QNAP NAS. All devices have to possess an HDMI connection in order to operate properly. The Caavo remote device also accepts other devices like a soundbar, Apple TV, Chromecast, a Blu-Ray/DVD player, and other gaming boxes. It also states compatibility with major cable and satellite services like DISH, DirectTV, and XFINITY. I have yet to try connecting my Spectrum box. Now the experience. I loved the professional yet, handsome look of the product. More importantly it worked for almost every device. Specifically, connecting the Amazon Cube Box worked as described. The trick will be having Alexa and the Caavo work together. Noticeably, there was code that allows Alexa and Caavo to work interchangeably. The Roku worked without any problems, as did the QNAP NAS, and XBOX-One. I removed the XBOX-One since I use primarily for streaming APPs and all that I wanted were already contained on either the Amazon Cube or Roku devices. Use of the surveillance camera system works as a huge monitoring system. The problem here though exists with my camera system’s non-user-friendly interface. Nothing to do with the Caavo remote. The INVIDIA Shield worked as planned but the Stream+ plus did not. The learning technique from the Caavo accepted the set-up but does not work. I’ll present that with Caavo soon. Additionally, there are “deep” linking features that allow the Caavo device to launch apps such as Hulu by just saying “watch Hulu” or “watch Apple TV” as an example. It can also automatically tune to specific channels on your cable or satellite box. I am trying to see if other Apps on the Amazon Cube or Roku deeplinking capability. Overall the experience was great as I finally had a technology device that felt good setting-up and using. Overall the cost seems a bit too much but well-worth finding that perfect time when Caavo has a discount available. I’ve seen it recently for only $199. They even had a Father’s Day special 2 for 1 deal. I must admit, you cannot completely get rid of the original remotes for your connected devices. Caavo is not perfect but a major step in the right direction to a true universal remote capability. There will always be other special features that only the original remotes can access. Case in point; no matter how much I tried using the subpar remote to my camera system, how can I expect the Caavo to make it any better? Special functions on the Amazon or Roku devices also have required me to use them in specific instances. But overall, the Caavo remote is the best on the market in my humble opinion. Don’t let the $399 cost scare you, wait for a reduction in price and get it. I used the Logitech Harmony for years now with some success. Not anymore.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected. I love the setup. It do not do simple tv remote functions. It only on pen some apps on Apple TV, none on Xbox one, and a few on direct tv.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good idea, so-so execution, lacks needed features I’ve been using the Caavo for a couple of months. Here are my thoughts: - Setup is pretty good. Clearly labeled inputs, instructions are pretty clear, and it worked for me the first time. But don’t underestimate it. It’s complicated. You’re not only adding a tv, speaker, Apple TV etc., you’re also linking your iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, etc., accounts which is a somewhat laborious process. Dedicate at least a full hour, maybe more. - Using the remote takes a while to learn. It really ONLY works using voice controls. Coming from a Logitech, my inclination is to press an Apple TV button or cable TV button, which isn’t really easy on the Caavo. You have to say “watch Apple TV” etc. is this better? Not sure. But it takes getting used to. - It’s a bit buggy. It has frozen, randomly launched actions while I’m watching a program and the remote is on the table, mis-hears my clearly spoken commands regularly and sometimes just ignores what I say. When this happens it has the effect of making your life harder, not easier. If it doesn’t work 99pct of the time it’s not really worth it, and I would say it doesn’t work 99pct of the time. Maybe 90-95pct. - Caavo actually is pretty good at complicated things. For example if I want to watch Handmaids Tale on Hulu I say “watch Handmaids Tale” and it will launch my Apple TV, then launch Hulu, then list Handmaids Tale. Pretty slick when it works. Less reliable when it’s a program that is on cable TV, HBO, and Netflix simultaneously. Caavo can get confused. - it’s less good at some simple things. It can get out of sync with my cable TV program guide for example causing me to dig up my cable remote to fix. Again, makes life harder. Bottom line is it’s good but needs work. I think they erred in making a remote with very few buttons. I think they underestimate the resistance to using voice commands exclusively. It would be a much better product if it had a comprehensive remote with dedicated device buttons, a number pad, etc. There should be an option to do things the “old” way or the “new” way. It’s a cool concept but I’m not sure it’s really any better than the Logitech at the end of the day.
